Aesthetician Tips

Spring is finally here and we all want to shed the dry tired look ole’ man winter left behind. You can achieve that youthful glow through skin resurfacing. There are many different options available to remove the dull outer layer of skin allowing new radiant skin to shine. These options include chemical resurfacing, or manual resurfacing through either microdermabrasion or laser resurfacing.

Chemical resurfacing is accomplished through chemical peels. There are several types of chemical peels available depending on the specific treatment depth (light, medium, or deep). Advanced Aesthetics offers SkinCeuticals GL and SM peels (www.skinceuticals.com) in addition to the more aggressive SkinMedica Vitalize peel (www.skinmedica.com) or a TCA peel. These peels improve the texture of dry and or sun-damaged aging skin, breakouts, fine lines and pigmentation abnormalities with little to no downtime.

Microdermabrasion is a form of manual exfoliation. Microdermabrasion is beneficial to minimize the appearance of large clogged pores and improve the texture of sun-damaged skin, fine lines, and or pigmentation issues with little to no downtime.

Laser resurfacing at Advanced Aesthetics is accomplished with the MicroLaser Peel and or Profractional Laser Resurfacing (www.sciton.com). Both procedures use laser energy to improve skin imperfections such as wrinkles, sun-damaged skin and or acne scars while stimulating the production of new collagen. As new skin cells form during the healing process the skin becomes smoother and softer. The depth of the resurfacing can be controlled depending on the individual’s specific skin concerns. Downtime for these procedures is routinely 5 – 7 days; however this may vary with the aggressiveness of the procedure performed.

Routinely, a series of chemical peels, microdermabrasion and or laser treatments is needed to achieve maximum results. In addition everyone needs a daily skincare regimen and follow-up treatments to maintain their results. The aestheticians at Advanced Aesthetics offer complimentary skin care consults to assist all individuals to customize a skin care regimen to fit their unique needs.
