Aesthetician Tips

It is estimated that more than 80 million Americans have some type of leg vein problem. This problem affects both men and women of all ages. Genetics is the main contributing factor that causes spider and or varicose veins, but standing occupations, weight gain, pregnancy and leg injuries may also lead to vein problems. Over time, if left untreated, bulging varicose veins may lead to symptoms of pain, swelling, heaviness, fatigue and restless legs syndrome.
At Advanced Aesthetics we specialize in correcting spider and varicose veins. Dr. Jack Shellito and Dr. Jason Slaikeu, both Vascular Surgeons, perform the most up-to-date procedures to treat varicose veins. Varicose veins are treated during an in office procedure that does not require general anesthesia. The Diomed Endovenous Laser is used for in-office procedures. Treatment of varicose veins is sometimes covered by medical insurance. Patients are encouraged to walk immediately following the procedure, and most can return to work the following day.
In addition to treating varicose veins, our physicians and staff also treat spider veins. Spider veins can be treated with Sclerotherapy and/or Sciton laser treatments. Sclerotherapy is the “gold standard” treatment for spider veins. An Advanced Aesthetic physician will inject a solution into the vein. Within a few weeks, the vein will fade. Two treatments may be sufficient, but the majority of patients require several treatments to achieve their desired outcome.
Unsightly spider veins can also be treated with the Sciton Laser. The laser sends very strong bursts of light into the vein, causing the vein to fade and disappear. Often, laser treatments are more appealing to individuals than injections as compression stockings are not required. Larger spider veins are usually treated more successfully with Sclerotherapy than with laser treatment. Depending on the severity of the vein problem, two to five treatments are usually required.
If you suffer from either spider or varicose veins, contact Advanced Aesthetics today to schedule a consult with a highly trained physician to determine the treatment that best addresses your needs.
