What do you need to know about breast augmentation?

Breast Augmentation

You may be seeking breast implant surgery for a number of reasons including restoration of your breast size and shape following life-changing events such as weight loss and gain, child birth, or simply the aging process.

You can choose between saline-filled implants and silicone-filled implants. Approval by the FDA confirms the safety of these two types of implants based on scientific studies and research.

The best way to learn how breast augmentation can assist you in meeting your personal goals is to schedule a consultation with a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Call 316-609-4440 to schedule your appointment with Dr. Kenton Schoonover or Dr. Richard DeSplinter.  Both physicians are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and are members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

During your pre-operative surgical consultation, you surgeon will analyze your individual body shape.  Based on this analysis and your specific goals, your surgeon can recommend the best implant type, shape and texture.

Aesthetician Tips

We all want our face to look younger and healthier. This can be achieved with a daily skin care regimen using quality products selected for your unique skin type. To achieve healthy-looking skin you must cleanse your face at least twice a day, apply topical antioxidants, apply adequate sun protection, and use some type of retinol product.

Cleansing your face at least twice a day with a specified cleanser for your individual skin type is necessary. A quality cleanser includes a variety of ingredients such as hydroxyl acids to lift impurities and oils and gently exfoliate dead skin cells. These cleansers will leave the skin feeling fresh and clean without increased dryness or oiliness.

Daily use of topical antioxidants will neutralize free radicals from wrecking havoc on your skin and is an essential piece in any skin care regimen. UV radiation from the sun causes up to 90% of photoaging, which manifests itself as fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation – and even skin cancer. The best broad-spectrum sun protection can only block approximately 55% of damaging free radicals from UV exposure. It is vital to use an effective topical antioxidant that is proven to penetrate the dermis of the skin and lead to optimal skin health.

Daily use of a sun protection product that offers true broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection is the MOST IMPORTANT component of a quality skin care regimen to prevent skin cancer and slow down the aging process. Sun exposure causes direct damage to the DNA in our skin cells. Aside from the direct cancerous effects of damaged DNA, other skin issues occur such as lines, wrinkles, and the development of excessive pigmentation or “age spots”. Reapply the product often and wear a hat while in the direct exposure of the intense Kansas sun.

Daily use of some type of a retinol product is essential. Retinol is another name for vitamin A. This product plays an important role in anti-aging skin care. Retinol helps to stimulate cell regeneration and rebuild collagen to diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, large pores and age spots, while correcting blemishes and blotchiness often associated with problematic skin. Daily use of this product can provide visible, long lasting results leading to a glowing, vibrant complexion for all ages and skin types.

These products should be used in conjunction with a quality mineral make-up to ensure you achieve your goals and are able to see viable changes in you skin.

There are additional products available that are beneficial for problematic skin issues such as rosecea, acne, or excessive pigmentation.  These products can be added to the basics listed above.

Call today to schedule your complimentary skin care consult with a licensed aesthetician to determine the specific products for your unique skin care needs.
